Syllabi
An official file must be kept of all courses offered by the School of Education. The most recent approved syllabus will be provided to you for your review approximately 2 weeks prior to the start of class. (Please note that Description and Objectives may not be altered.) At least one week prior to the start of class, all syllabi need to be electronically submitted in MS Word format to your department support specialist for archiving. SabreNET (formerly IQ-Web): Online attendance and grading is now required using your SabreNET account.—Contact sabrenethelp@marianuniversity.edu for additional information.
As stated in your contract, your last paycheck will be paid after the course has ended and final grades have been entered online through SabreNET as outlined by the Registrar’s Office (1-800-262-7426 x7618).
Marian Email Account: The School of Education is inviting you to apply for a Marian email account. All Marian correspondence will then be conducted through this account. If you have not yet obtained a Marian email, please request an account.
Instructional Materials: Prior authorization from the School of Education Department Chair is required to rent or purchase instructional materials.
Subcontracting: Marian University does not allow subcontracting of courses. If you are unable to teach your course, please contact the Department Chair or the Dean of Education.
Cancellation or Change of a Class Session/Time: It is your responsibility to call the School of Education Department office—preferably before 3:00 p.m.—not the class site, when a class session needs to be cancelled. To change a class session or class time, you must have approval from the School of Education Dean or Department Chair.
Expenses: Expenses incurred while teaching for the School of Education may be submitted to the School of Education Dean’s office at the end of each month.
a. Lodging: When it is determined that a faculty member requires a hotel reservation (typically when traveling one hour or more to the class site), the School of Education Office will make the reservation. The room charge will be billed directly to the university. The faculty member will be responsible for all other charges.
b. Meals: Meal expenses are reimbursed without receipts at an amount not to exceed the maximum allowed: Breakfast $6.00; Lunch $7.00; Dinner $15.00. Additional expenses require receipts.
c. Mileage: It is necessary for you to request mileage reimbursement using a Travel Expense Report form. University policy allows for mileage reimbursement ($.40/mile) only from your home city to the outreach city or from Marian University to the outreach city, whichever is the shorter distance. Reimbursement is made for distances that are more than 30 miles round trip. Calculate your mileage using Mapquest.com or for a quick reference, the following mileage chart.
