The Role of Respect for Diversity in Education

This year's keynote speaker is Marcus "Dr. Respect" Gentry.

 

Marcus Gentry is the founder and president of his business A Mastermind Creation. He is currently based in Chicago, IL. Marcus develops and delivers programs that enhance personal and professional growth and leadership. By using his style of creative empowerment while teaching universal principles, he is able to keep his messages and methods on the cutting edge. Dr. Respect has extensive experience in working with culturally diverse populations which includes youth involved in alcohol and other drugs, gangs, rural and inner city youth, as well as the community who they impact.

 

Marcus is an internationally recognized speaker and trainer who have been providing seminars and workshops for over 25 years. Currently his principles of Respect are being implemented in school systems as far away as Canes Australia and Nairobi, Africa. . He is the Co- founder and facilitator of the Riverdale Empowerment Group (REG), a consultant for the Riverdale Mayor's Office of Youth Enrichment, and is on the board of Directors of Community-Based Education for Aids Awareness Advocacy, Inc...Also host an internet television program called Above and Beyond with Marcus Gentry.

 

Marcus has partnered with the Cook County court system, probation officers training programs, CEDA (Community and Economic Development Cooperation) multiple school districts, with a special focus in Alternative schools and grass root organizations in order to assist in developing strategies for effectively working with and empowering challenging populations.

Monday, July 19
8-9 a.m. Registration
9-11:30 a.m. Keynote Speaker: Marcus Gentry (open to the public)
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Lunch
12:45 p.m. -2:00 p.m. Action Research or Portfolio Sessions (DIAL students only)
2:15 p.m. -3:30 p.m. Action Research or Portfolio Sessions (DIAL students only)
4-6 p.m. Reception: Tru Blu Lounge, Ramada Hotel

 

Tuesday, July 20-Thursday, July 22
A different elective to choose from each day
9 a.m.-noon and 1-4:30 p.m. Attend selected electives (for DIAL and non-degree seeking students)
Electives will be on the topic of Differentiated Instruction and At-Risk Learners and will be announced soon
